Animal Ophthalmology

Why Animal Ophthalmology is Important

Ocular diseases such as conjunctivitis (red eye), keratoconjunctiva (dry eye), corneal ulcers, glaucoma, cataracts and eyelid abnormalities are just a few of the eye problems we see on a daily basis.

Some common tests that we may perform on your pet’s eyes are a tear production test, flourescein stain to help detect ulcers and use of a Tonopen to check eye pressures. We also perform ocular surgeries such as entropion correction, cherry eye correction (third eyelid prolapse), eyelid tumor removals, and enucleation (removal of the eyeball).

As always, if we feel your pet would benefit from an appointment with a board certified ophthalmologist, we’ll be happy to arrange a referral!
