Internal Veterinary Medicine

What is Internal Veterinary Medicine?

Internal Medicine is an umbrella-term that includes the study of different body systems such as the GI tract (stomach & intestinal conditions), the internal organs (liver, pancreas, kidney disease), infections diseases (such as urinary tract conditions), and the respiratory system (airway & lung disease), among others.

How It Works:

As General practitioners, the doctors at Court Street Vet work closely with you and your pet to determine the cause of illness. When they become ill our pets often display non-specific clinical signs such as weight loss, change in thirst or appetite, lethargy, or vomiting and diarrhea. It’s our doctors’ job to determine a plan for investigations, so we can help your pet feel better.

Diagnosis of diseases in internal medicine is often aided by tests such as bloodwork, urinalysis, or radiographs. many of these tests can be performed in-house while you and you pet wait for answers! Our new laboratory allows us to provide rapid diagnosis of many different conditions. We can then decide on a treatment plan, or if needed discuss specialist referral.
